Mr. Edward L. Carlson of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.

He was born August 16, 1933, in North Dakota and had been a longtime Houston area resident before moving to Nacogdoches a few years ago.

Mr. Carlson was a proud veteran, serving his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from AT&T (Southwestern Bell) with 41 years of service. He was a faithful member of Nacogdoches Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy Marie Carlson and Lois Collier Carlson; and children, James McBride, Johnny McBride, Wanda McBride, and Linda Carlson.

His survivors include children, Cathy Hammond and husband Thomas "Pee Wee," Barbara Vicars and husband Terry, Roger McBride and wife Cindy, and Gordon Carlson and wife Grace; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services are set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Nacogdoches Community Church, located at 1907 North Stallings Drive, with the pastor, Dr. Jerry M. Jones, officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, located at 4922 FM 2864 near Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
